Presidential debate

In the first presidential debate I think Hillary Clinton won. I think Hillary was well prepared and clearly answered many of the questions. As for trump, he tried avoiding a lot of questions as much as he could and continued to bash Hillary every chance he could. Clinton seemed to be very confident in her answers and didn't let trumps "bullying" as you can call it affect her. In my opinion I feel as if trump avoided the questions from Hillary also. He'd start off and you'd think he'd answer but instead he would immediately change the subject and try attacking Hillarys weaknesses. They have both been caught in lies in there life but Hillary has learned from her mistakes and is looking forward to make this country a better place. By the end of the debate it was obvious that trump was all out of information and continued to attack Hillary. She brought up trumps bankruptcies and how he hadn't paid any tax returns in several years. Not only did Hillary take the heat for trump and the rude remarks, she kept her cool and sort of laughed it off. She was very respectful unlike trump all night. Trumps constant interruptions of Clinton will do him no help towards women voters; he utterly disrespected Hillary and tried taking advantage all night. Also him bragging about forcing president Obama to show his birth certificate will not go well with black voters. Also, the fact that trump started arguing with moderator Lester Holt just showed that he was defeated and things weren't going his way.

My first speech reflection

I thought my speech was all around pretty well. I thought I did many things good and also some things that I know I need to work on. I started the beginning of my speech very strong with eye contact and getting the crown involved. Towards the end of my speech I feel like the listeners kind of got bored and uninterested. I need to work on not slowing down towards the end or getting distracted. What I learned about other speeches is a lot of us didn't know our speech. As a class I think we need to work on our eye contact in stead of reading word for word off a paper.

Who am I speech

Has anyone ever told you hitting a baseball is easy? Ted Williams arguably the greatest hitter of all time once said, Without question the hardest single thing to do in sports is to hit a baseball.  My name is Jay DeVito a PG student athlete at Cheshire academy and I am here to try and earn a scholarship to play college baseball. Many people say baseball is a boring and slow sport but I think differently; I think it's a very intense game.

I came from a family with many athletes but everyone always played baseball. I started my career in national lione little league at just 4 years old. Little league was filled with many great memories which include going to Cooperstown dreams park and playing baseball a for a whole week. Still playing with same kids throughout babe Ruth and legion ball it really kept me close with my long time teammates.

My main goal is to eventually play baseball and earn a scholarship to a division 1 school. That's been my dream ever since I picked up a ball when I was 2 years old. My brother currently plays at the university of Hartford which really motivates me to pursue my dream. He constantly preaches to me about how hard I'm going to have to work in order to make it on to the field. I really want to prove to everyone whos ever doubted me By calling me "too slow"or "doesn't have the bat to play at the next level." I take that personally and really set my goal to prove to people just like that what Capable of.

In order for me to achieve my goal of playing baseball at the next level I'm going to need to dedicate myself to the classroom for the entire year. If it takes staying after or staying update finishing my homework then I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get the grades I want. This will be very important and play a huge roll as to where I will be playing next year. I really hope my dream comes true and I will be sitting in front of a college proffesor next year as a student athlete.

Blog number 2 what I've learned about public speaking

What I've learned in public speaking thus far is ways how to become a good public speaker and also how to be a bad one. In order to become a good public speaker I think you need to have confidence in yourself. Stand up straight with your chin-up knowing how well your going to do. If you could talk to your friends and family and hold a pretty good conversation then why can't we in front of thousands of people? It's simply because we mess up on a word and lose confidence and then everything usually goes downhill from there. Before going up to do your speech you should know your speech as good as possible. You need to have eye contact, nobody wants to watch you speak directly from a piece of paper. Another thing I learned is to keep your sentences short and really just get to the point. Nobody wants to sit through a speech and just listen to you going on and on. What the audience wants is to feel into the conversation so include the audience by asking questions, making them laugh, and making them interested in what you have to say.
The most difficult thing that I've had to deal with in public speaking so far is if I get stuck or mess up on something to keep going. I have a tendency to mess up and stop and say,”can I start over again”. I have to learn to keep going even if I mess up or make a joke so the crowd forgets about it.
Nobody likes a boring speaker. When you're up on a stage speaking you need to be energetic and get the crowd into it. This happens to many people. They start talking and it's very monotone and boring and the audience instantly notices it. Monotone is a word I just learned and it means when a person is speaking and it's very flat and boring for listeners.

Bad Ted talk

http://www.ted.com/talks/benedetta_berti_the_surprising_way_groups_like_isis_stay_in_power

This was a bad Ted talk because I couldn't understand her. She had good information but without understanding her I won't be able to get anything out of her. It seemed to me that right when she started talking all I was doing was paying attention to her voice.

jays blog post 1

Hello my name is Jay DeVito and I'm a PG here at Cheshire Academy. I'm excited to see what Cheshire has to offer me academically and athletically. This year I will play baseball and basketball. I'm excited to get on the field and court with my new family here at school!

One interesting thing about me is that I was a three sport athlete in high school. Playing three sports in high school was one of the best things I've ever done in my life. I loved playing in front of family and friends and never wanted to stop competing. Going from one sport to the next could have had some wear and tear on my body but I just never wanted to stop. Yea, I'm sure if I played one sport and worked on it all year I'd be a lot better but I wanted to be out there playing for my school, family, and friends.

Another interesting and important thing about me is that I love fantasy football. I do a ton of research on players all over the NFL to see who will fit on my team. This year I'm in two leagues and I was happy with both of my drafts and excited for the season. It's a very good way to get entertained and
into the games on Sunday's. Hopefully this year will be the year that I take home a championship. Playing in my fourth year now I have yet to win it all. I take this very serious and it's important tome because the winner does get a little money if they win. The

My last interesting thing about me is that I can juggle. Not can I just juggle 3 balls I can easily even do 4. In 5th grade we had a talent show and two other kids and I juggled bowling pins. Even though they were plastic pins my classmates and family were very impressed.

I'm taking this class for many reasons. First of all getting embarrassed in front of a ton of people is the worst. Stuttering, talking to fast or too slow in front of a lot of people is also pretty bad. I want to do whatever it takes to sound smarter in front of my piers. I think public speaking is very difficult but it's very important in life. People start judging you the minute you start talking, so would you want to be judged in a poorly way because of the way you had a conversation? I think not, so those are the main reasons why I am taking this class.
