Progress reflection
My this I believe speech is coming along great. I'm writing about how social media ruins the world. And in reality it does. I've worked on my delivery a ton and really have Ben practicing on my stance. I tend to sway back and fourth and really have fixed that. Through my practicing I have been working on talking slow and grabbing the readers attention. I'd like the reader to be engaged and really surprised with some of the things I say. My plan is for the reader to be on the edge of their seat paying close attention.
When we were assigned this speech I was very excited to get going. I knew exactly what I wanted to talk about and hopefully I can make change and put an idea in people's mind. We depend on our phones way too much. Like I said in my speech I wish we can go back into time and live there life and see how peaceful things were. Social media causes unnecessary problems and stupid information sometimes.

This I believe draft
This i believe we all want to be someone we're not. We all want to be famous. All want money. Why is this? The way Social media is now A days, everyone wants to be twitter famous or Snapchat famous. Seems pretty cool to have millions of fans and followers as a teenager. If you don't have a thousand followers your not considered "cool". We spend more time adding friends on social media rather than starting everlasting friendships. This is the generation we live in today.
Our generation has been ruined with the use of smartphones. Havng a conversation is hard to come across without a glimpse on your phone. Everyone always has there phones out, wheather its laughing about something or showing someone something we are all blinded. Technology has made us lose our communication skills. We so deeply depend on these phones on an everyday basis, that it has effected the use of in person communication in a negative way.
I believe technology will increase its expansion even more then it has. I think we all can believe this. Real life conversations will become non existent and the communication within will rapidly decrease. If I could do something about this I would. I would try to cut down on the use of phones and engage with in person conversations. People now a days cant live without internet. It's sad but true. I wish we can go back into time and live our lives with limited technology.

I believe
My senior speech will be about how I got to this point. Mainly through hard work and dedication. Even though I may not be the brightest student or the most presice. I will tell you I put 100% into everything I do. Sports have shaped me into the person I am today. Playing 3 sports for my 4 years of high school have taught me a lot. It's taught me how to be a leader and also how to deal with failure. I'm a very competitive person who hates to lose. I hate losing more then I like winning. That tells you a lot about what typ of person I am. I believe that I will be successful in life. Through hard work and determination it will take me a far way. I believe that everyone should be treated equally. Weather it's skin color, ethnicity, or weight nobody should be treated differently.
I believe in people. I'm not one to wait for someone to succeed but if someone is going through rough times I will give them a chance and really believe in them. I believe in 2nd chances because everyone makes mistakes. Everyone throughout their life makes horrible mistakes and it makes you feel like nothing. You feel ruined after a mistake and to not get a second chance in the world we live in today would be hard to do.

Teach a skill
How to juggle?
Step 1
You have to get the hang of it.
chose the right balls
beanbags are usually for beginners
make sure you have enough space for yourself to mess up and drop the beanbags or balls at the beginning.
Step 2
start practicing with two balls.
Toss ball A, and when it reaches the top of its arc, toss ball B. Practice until this simple exchange becomes comfortable.
The Exchange
With a ball in each hand, throw one across, then just as it begins to fall, throw the second ball in an arc right back to the first hand.
Common mistakes include throwing two balls in a circle, or throwing both balls at the same time.

Step 3
Try using 3 balls
start out slow and try passing three balls to each corner.
when I look at it I picture windows to my upper left and upper right and toss them directly into the windows.
for most of the time one ball will be in the air while two are in both of your hands.
This takes a lot of practice to get the hang of it
It will be frustrating at first but once you get it it's the most satisfying thing ever.

Step 1. Start by holding just one ball. Cradle it in your palm with your elbows at your sides and relax. This is going
Step 2. One Ball
With your hands about waist level and keeping your elbows at your sides, use a scooping motion to toss the ball gently from one hand to the other.
Step 3. The Exchange
With a ball in each hand, throw one across just like before, then just as it begins to fall, throw the second ball in an arc right back to the first hand.
Step 4. Preparing for Three
Step 5. The Third Toss
The goal this time is to do two exchanges in a row.
[1] Take three balls with two in one hand, one in the other. If you are left handed you will probably want to start with two in your left hand.
[2] Throw the first ball from the hand holding two in an arc just like before
[3] As it begins to fall, throw the ball from the opposite hand and catch the first in your empty hand (so far it’s just like before)
[4] Now, as the second ball heads to the first hand, throw the third ball across in time to catch the second ball
Finally catch the third ball in your fingers triumphantly!
Study the diagrams to help you visualize it then give it a try!
http://www.yoyoguy.com/info/ball/
Start with one ball. Throw the ball in an arc from hand to hand about eye level. The pattern will be an arc, not a circle.
Start with one ball in each hand. First toss the ball in your right hand (1) in the arc to about eye level to your left hand. When this ball (1) reaches the highest point in it's arc . . .
Start with 2 balls in one hand (1&3) (in this case the right hand, but if you are a lefty, use your left hand) and one ball (2) in the other. Start by throwing the ball in the front of your right hand in an arc to your left hand.
Common mistakes include throwing two balls in a circle, or throwing both balls at the same time.

1 min speech
hello ladies and gentlemen... My name is Jay DeVito and I am running for president of the United States. I plan to go above and beyond all expectations and challenges that are thrown my way. It takes a leader to be the president and i believe I could step in a play that role immediately. America needs a change. I will plan to make college more affordable and cut down on the use of gun violence. I respect my opponents Hillary Clinton and Donald trump but I think many can agree after those last three debates we wouldn't want them to be our president. I will lead this country in the right direction and make lives better. Thank you and I hope you make the right decision.

Speech reflection
My second speech was filled with both negative and positive attributes. Relating back to the first speech we did I feel like I used more enthusiasm to show that I was trying to get the listeners attention. I know that I still need to look up more one saying my speech. I will need to remember my speech more and go over it so I can feel confident saying it without looking down at my paper. I used a lot of logos throughout my speech which I feel is a good thing because it was filled with many facts. I need to work on my stance more looking back at the video it looks like I was standing to straight and Trying not to move. Almost like a robot. I feel like the main problem for everyone in the class is memorizing their speech. I feel like it's the most important thing to do when telling your speech. Eye contact is key.

President talk
Hello ladies and gentlemen, my name is Jay DeVito and i am running for president. As most presidential candidates say, "I'm going to make the country a better place and more affordable." But how often does that actually happen. I know that my defendants Hillary Clinton and Donald trump have said it repeatedly, but the real question is when are the people going to vote for the best candidate there is to make change? That's why I'm here today. It's time for a change. First off college is way too expensive and it's getting absurd. Over the past three decades college tuition has almost tripled. I'm planning to cut half of the tuition down and make it some what affordable to everyone. If kids are able to afford schools this will also cut down on terrorists groups such as Isis. Groups like Isis recruit young uneducated men, if we can increase the education rate we can cut down on parts of terrorist recruiting. Terrorism is a very serious problem in the world and even in our country.
Our next leader needs to speak truthfully to American people. I'm willing to tell it how it is and say what I want to do straight up. This has negativity affected Donald trump and Hillary Clinton because they have both been caught in there own lies. Looking into the debate it has showed many negative features on both candidates. Both have blatantly twisted around questions asked there way and have tried attacking each other more than answering the questions being asked.
One of the first things I will do when I'm running for president is to stop terrorism. These groups are attacking innocent people and it needs to stop. First, I will stop isis’s way of revenue because without funding going into this group it is very hard for it to exist. Next I will stop there ways of recruiting. Without a constant flow of recruits it's impossible to exist. I will guarantee To completely wipe out Isis. Hillary Clinton is not the person we need in office if we're trying to take out terrorism. She's known for being laid back and wait for things to come to her before we take action. Donald trump can be known as too aggressive, he's said that he wants to go to war with these groups but that's not the right thing to do. These terrorist groups are very dangerous and we need to make smart moves to try to stop them.
America needs a president to fix the national debt. Imagine if you received a credit-card bill, through your own irresponsible spending habits, for over $1 million. Well that is exactly what's happening due to our current fiscal crisis in America. This is why we need more jobs. I will be looking to make higher paying jobs for the middle class.
There's obvious problems regarding the second amendment. It states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The Second Amendment must be repealed. When the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, there were no weapons remotely like the AR-15 assault rifle and many of the advanced weapons weren't invited. There have been way to many killings that involve guns and I guarantee to reduce those numbers when I do everything I can to get rid of the guns in our country.
It's time for a change. I am your change. Thank you

Debate number 3
Finally the debates are all over. In my opinion both embarrassed themselves and we should be ashamed of ourselves for having our two candidates one down to this. If I had to choice a winner from last night it'd be Hillary Clinton. Trump Refused to state that if he lost the debate he would respect and accept the decision. This was a huge part in the debate showing that trump would be a sore loser and doesn't respect women. What is Donald trump going to do if Hillary wins?

Debate analysis
In the last two debates there were many good things that went on. Both made winning tactics, and also a couple mistakes. For example in the first debate Hillary showed very good poise. This played to her advantage because many looked at trump as a bully. She took the heat all night and interestingly laughed it off. In my opinion I feel as if Trump did a better job in the second debate because he wasn't focusing as much on attacking Hillary. Not saying he didn't attack her but he controlled himself and went after her when needed. Both used obfuscation Fallacy throughout their debate, dodging questions constantly while trying to cover it up. Trump made this a little more obvious by basically answering nothing while Hillary would atleast address the question that was asked. This is definitely not the right thing to do during the debate, the audience would like to know your stance and position and answer all the questions thoroughly. Trump has shown a lack of seriousness through the two debates and a lot of sarcasm. For example when he said, "Secretary Clinton—is that OK? Yes? Good. I want you to be happy, it’s very important to me." This was a perfect example of one of our candidates taking this debate as a joke. Is that how we want our next president to be? A joke? I think not. In the second debate I think Hilary's ending was poor. The question was, “what's one positive thing you could say about your opponent?” Hillary didn't necessarily give a compliment to trump but just said he respects the way he raised his kids. And for trump on the other hand, the ending to his debate was the best thing he could have done all night. He showed respect in women which many people say he doesn't and told Hillary that he likes how she doesn't give up and she's a fighter. This showed to many people including myself that trump isn't such a bad guy and could give credit where credit is due. If I had to guess I would think trump would have avoided the question like he did all night but instead this was probably the one and only question he answered. All and all I feel as if both presented themselves poorly. Both debates didn't go well and was basically an embarrassment to our country I think the two could learn from the last two debates and hopefully make positive changes and say what the audience wants to know.

Logical fallacies
Bandwagon fallacy
appeal to the majority, appeal to democracy, appeal to popularity.
To basically choose something just because it's what people like or aren't interested in.
An example of a bandwagon is to be a golden state warrior fan right after Kevin durant joins the team. This is obviously the most talented team now and will be the most popular.

Presidential debate
In the first presidential debate I think Hillary Clinton won. I think Hillary was well prepared and clearly answered many of the questions. As for trump, he tried avoiding a lot of questions as much as he could and continued to bash Hillary every chance he could. Clinton seemed to be very confident in her answers and didn't let trumps "bullying" as you can call it affect her. In my opinion I feel as if trump avoided the questions from Hillary also. He'd start off and you'd think he'd answer but instead he would immediately change the subject and try attacking Hillarys weaknesses. They have both been caught in lies in there life but Hillary has learned from her mistakes and is looking forward to make this country a better place. By the end of the debate it was obvious that trump was all out of information and continued to attack Hillary. She brought up trumps bankruptcies and how he hadn't paid any tax returns in several years. Not only did Hillary take the heat for trump and the rude remarks, she kept her cool and sort of laughed it off. She was very respectful unlike trump all night. Trumps constant interruptions of Clinton will do him no help towards women voters; he utterly disrespected Hillary and tried taking advantage all night. Also him bragging about forcing president Obama to show his birth certificate will not go well with black voters. Also, the fact that trump started arguing with moderator Lester Holt just showed that he was defeated and things weren't going his way.

My first speech reflection
I thought my speech was all around pretty well. I thought I did many things good and also some things that I know I need to work on. I started the beginning of my speech very strong with eye contact and getting the crown involved. Towards the end of my speech I feel like the listeners kind of got bored and uninterested. I need to work on not slowing down towards the end or getting distracted. What I learned about other speeches is a lot of us didn't know our speech. As a class I think we need to work on our eye contact in stead of reading word for word off a paper.

Who am I speech
Has anyone ever told you hitting a baseball is easy? Ted Williams arguably the greatest hitter of all time once said, Without question the hardest single thing to do in sports is to hit a baseball. My name is Jay DeVito a PG student athlete at Cheshire academy and I am here to try and earn a scholarship to play college baseball. Many people say baseball is a boring and slow sport but I think differently; I think it's a very intense game.
I came from a family with many athletes but everyone always played baseball. I started my career in national lione little league at just 4 years old. Little league was filled with many great memories which include going to Cooperstown dreams park and playing baseball a for a whole week. Still playing with same kids throughout babe Ruth and legion ball it really kept me close with my long time teammates.
My main goal is to eventually play baseball and earn a scholarship to a division 1 school. That's been my dream ever since I picked up a ball when I was 2 years old. My brother currently plays at the university of Hartford which really motivates me to pursue my dream. He constantly preaches to me about how hard I'm going to have to work in order to make it on to the field. I really want to prove to everyone whos ever doubted me By calling me "too slow"or "doesn't have the bat to play at the next level." I take that personally and really set my goal to prove to people just like that what Capable of.
In order for me to achieve my goal of playing baseball at the next level I'm going to need to dedicate myself to the classroom for the entire year. If it takes staying after or staying update finishing my homework then I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get the grades I want. This will be very important and play a huge roll as to where I will be playing next year. I really hope my dream comes true and I will be sitting in front of a college proffesor next year as a student athlete.

Blog number 2 what I've learned about public speaking
What I've learned in public speaking thus far is ways how to become a good public speaker and also how to be a bad one. In order to become a good public speaker I think you need to have confidence in yourself. Stand up straight with your chin-up knowing how well your going to do. If you could talk to your friends and family and hold a pretty good conversation then why can't we in front of thousands of people? It's simply because we mess up on a word and lose confidence and then everything usually goes downhill from there. Before going up to do your speech you should know your speech as good as possible. You need to have eye contact, nobody wants to watch you speak directly from a piece of paper. Another thing I learned is to keep your sentences short and really just get to the point. Nobody wants to sit through a speech and just listen to you going on and on. What the audience wants is to feel into the conversation so include the audience by asking questions, making them laugh, and making them interested in what you have to say.
The most difficult thing that I've had to deal with in public speaking so far is if I get stuck or mess up on something to keep going. I have a tendency to mess up and stop and say,”can I start over again”. I have to learn to keep going even if I mess up or make a joke so the crowd forgets about it.
Nobody likes a boring speaker. When you're up on a stage speaking you need to be energetic and get the crowd into it. This happens to many people. They start talking and it's very monotone and boring and the audience instantly notices it. Monotone is a word I just learned and it means when a person is speaking and it's very flat and boring for listeners.

Bad Ted talk
http://www.ted.com/talks/benedetta_berti_the_surprising_way_groups_like_isis_stay_in_power
This was a bad Ted talk because I couldn't understand her. She had good information but without understanding her I won't be able to get anything out of her. It seemed to me that right when she started talking all I was doing was paying attention to her voice.

morning announcement
Hi my name is jay Devito. The boys basketball coach here at Cheshire Academy. Next week we will be starting an open gym and we encourage anyone who wants to play this year to come out. There will be multiple college coaches here to see you guys compete and to show off your skills. Last year we had 3 kids earn scholarships just from these open gyms. I am trying to set you guys up for success and get you guys to play at the next level. If you have any questions about these workouts or the upcoming season you can come see me whenever. Thanks and have a great day.

jays blog post 1
Hello my name is Jay DeVito and I'm a PG here at Cheshire Academy. I'm excited to see what Cheshire has to offer me academically and athletically. This year I will play baseball and basketball. I'm excited to get on the field and court with my new family here at school!
One interesting thing about me is that I was a three sport athlete in high school. Playing three sports in high school was one of the best things I've ever done in my life. I loved playing in front of family and friends and never wanted to stop competing. Going from one sport to the next could have had some wear and tear on my body but I just never wanted to stop. Yea, I'm sure if I played one sport and worked on it all year I'd be a lot better but I wanted to be out there playing for my school, family, and friends.
Another interesting and important thing about me is that I love fantasy football. I do a ton of research on players all over the NFL to see who will fit on my team. This year I'm in two leagues and I was happy with both of my drafts and excited for the season. It's a very good way to get entertained and
into the games on Sunday's. Hopefully this year will be the year that I take home a championship. Playing in my fourth year now I have yet to win it all. I take this very serious and it's important tome because the winner does get a little money if they win. The
My last interesting thing about me is that I can juggle. Not can I just juggle 3 balls I can easily even do 4. In 5th grade we had a talent show and two other kids and I juggled bowling pins. Even though they were plastic pins my classmates and family were very impressed.
I'm taking this class for many reasons. First of all getting embarrassed in front of a ton of people is the worst. Stuttering, talking to fast or too slow in front of a lot of people is also pretty bad. I want to do whatever it takes to sound smarter in front of my piers. I think public speaking is very difficult but it's very important in life. People start judging you the minute you start talking, so would you want to be judged in a poorly way because of the way you had a conversation? I think not, so those are the main reasons why I am taking this class.
